Hi Folks, I finished up my winter 2021/2022 winter ice fishing guiding season this week. The last month on the ice was really good. Very consistent catching northern pike and yellow perch. There still is ice to walk on, just the edges of most lakes are sketchy. We had 16” of ice on Wednesday, yet the edge of the lake was soft with some watery areas. The edge of a lake is always the first area to go and where the ice loses its integrity. It’s too bad that the weather warmer up so quickly and significantly. I love late season ice fishing and it a great time to catch a giant northern pike as well as a mess of perch for a meal. There is no room for error when ice fishing. Safety first. I am currently cleaning fishing equipment and preparing for open water fishing. I will begin my open water season in a couple of weeks. Early season opportunities will be for rainbow, brown, and brook trout, northern pike, yellow perch, bullhead, and walleye at the beginning of May. A big thank you to everyone who iced with me this season. My best business winter ever on the hard water. Remember to clean your gear and keep the non-native species at home. Have Fun, Willy
