Hi Folks, Cold weather has arrived and the ice has really begun to firm up throughout northern Vermont. I have been guiding on the  hard water and have found 5” to 6” of solid black ice. With the arrival of cold weather this upcoming week, the ice will really start to accumulate. Trout season is now open and lots of options for fishing. I have been chasing walleye and pike. The fishing has been consistent. We have been catching walleye under tip ups. We have been baiting them with medium sized golden shiners presented in 5’ to 15’ of water. Most of our fish have been caught in shallow water including good numbers of largemouth bass. All of my pike sets have been on small wounded yellow perch. We have jigging perch in deeper water. A Fire Tiger Hali Jig tipped with live maggots has been the lure of choice. The fishing is pretty decent right now and more than safe to be on the ice. I will be getting on the hard water several times this week. Remember to clean your gear and keep the non-native species at home. Have Fun, Willy
